“Perdido Street Station” by China Mieville Review

Perdido Street Station

Author: China Mieville

Release Date: 2000

I enjoyed the unconventional setting of this book; the steampunk mixed with magic and different races is a nice combination of sci-fi and fantasy. At times though it felt like the author was trying to do too much, and it seemed unlikely how all of the characters stories ended up crossing into each other. (The gangster storyline started out interesting but felt abandoned and then unnecessarily tied in.) The Garuda race was very the part I liked best, hopefully they show up on the sequels.
